What makes MystEast bracelets different from mass-produced jewelry?

Every MystEast bracelet is handcrafted to order — never mass-produced. We draw on centennial heritage from the Ma Family of Northeast China, using traditional techniques passed down through generations. Each piece is personalized based on your Birth Element, making it uniquely yours. Our aromatic incense beads are hand-rolled from 100% natural botanical herbs, following ancient Chinese herbal fragrance recipes.

What materials do you use in your bracelets?

We use only natural, sustainably sourced materials: herbal incense beads (hand-rolled from botanical herbs), natural crystals, gemstones, wood beads, and traditional cord. We never use synthetic materials or mass-produced components. Each material is selected for its natural beauty, cultural significance, and alignment with your Birth Element profile.

What are incense beads? How do they work?

Incense beads (合香珠, hé xiāng zhū) are a traditional Chinese craft where powdered botanical herbs and fragrant materials are mixed with a natural binder, hand-rolled into beads, and dried. The result is a bead that carries a subtle, natural fragrance that lasts for months or even years. When warmed by your body's heat, the fragrance gently releases — creating a personal, portable aromatic experience. This is an ancient Chinese fragrance tradition dating back over a thousand years.

How long does the fragrance of incense beads last?

With proper care, the fragrance of our incense beads can last 6 to 12 months, and in some cases even longer. The fragrance is strongest when the beads are warmed by body heat. Over time, the scent will gradually soften — this is natural and part of the beauty of natural botanical fragrance. You can gently refresh the beads by placing them in a small sealed container with a drop of natural essential oil (optional).

What is the Birth Element?

Your Birth Element is the dominant Five Elements association derived from your birth date in the traditional Chinese calendar. The Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) are a cultural framework used in Chinese tradition to describe natural patterns and relationships. Your Birth Element is simply a cultural reference point — a way to understand which elemental qualities are associated with your birth date, and which materials, colors, and fragrances traditionally align with that profile.

How do you determine my Birth Element?

We use your birth date (year, month, day) to calculate your dominant element based on the traditional Chinese Five Elements system. You can also use our free online calculator on the homepage to discover your Birth Element instantly. For a more detailed profile, include your birth time and place when placing a custom order, and we'll prepare a comprehensive Personal Element Profile for you.

Is the Birth Element the same as astrology or fortune-telling?

No. The Five Elements and Birth Element are a traditional Chinese cultural framework for understanding natural patterns and personal preferences — similar to how different seasons are associated with different qualities. It is not astrology, fortune-telling, or a predictive system. We use it as a cultural reference point for personalizing your piece with materials, colors, and fragrances that have traditional cultural associations with your elemental profile. It is for cultural and aesthetic purposes only.

What is the Personal Element Profile that comes with my order?

Every MystEast order includes a complimentary Personal Element Profile — a printed document that accompanies your product. It explains your Birth Element, your associated Chinese zodiac animal, the traditional cultural qualities associated with your profile, and our recommendations for materials, colors, and fragrances that align with your elemental composition. It's a cultural reference guide, not a predictive or diagnostic document.

How does the Chinese zodiac relate to my bracelet?

The Chinese zodiac (十二生肖, shí èr shēng xiào) is a 12-year cycle where each year is associated with an animal. Your zodiac animal is determined by your birth year in the Chinese lunar calendar. In our personalization system, we consider both your Birth Element and your zodiac animal as cultural reference points for selecting materials, colors, and designs. The zodiac is a beloved part of Chinese cultural tradition — we use it for cultural and aesthetic personalization, not for prediction or fortune-telling.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes! We ship worldwide from Hong Kong. We currently ship to the United States, Europe, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and many other countries. All orders include free standard shipping.

How long does it take to receive my order?

Since every piece is handcrafted to order, production takes 3–5 business days. After shipping, standard international delivery typically takes 7–14 business days depending on your location. You will receive a tracking number via email once your order ships.

How will my Personal Element Profile be delivered?

Your Personal Element Profile is printed and included in your package, shipped together with your product. It's a beautiful printed document that explains your Birth Element, zodiac animal, and our personalized recommendations — a keepsake that accompanies your handcrafted piece.

What is your return policy?

We offer a 14-day return window for unworn, undamaged items in their original packaging. Since each piece is handcrafted to order, personalized items may have specific return conditions. Please refer to our full Return Policy for complete details.

What if my bracelet doesn't fit?

We're happy to help with sizing adjustments. Contact us within 14 days of receiving your order, and we'll guide you through the resizing or exchange process. Please include your order number and a photo of the bracelet on your wrist so we can assist you efficiently.

How do I care for my incense bead bracelet?

To preserve the fragrance and beauty of your incense beads: avoid prolonged water exposure (remove before swimming, showering, or washing dishes); store in the provided pouch when not wearing; wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth; avoid direct sunlight and extreme humidity. With proper care, your beads will maintain their fragrance and beauty for months.

Can I wear my bracelet while sleeping or exercising?

We recommend removing your bracelet during vigorous exercise, as sweat and friction can affect the cord and beads. For sleeping, it's a personal preference — many customers enjoy the gentle fragrance while resting, but removing it can extend the lifespan of both the cord and the fragrance.

How do I care for wooden pendants and carvings?

Wooden pieces (including thunder-struck jujube wood) should be kept away from prolonged water exposure and direct sunlight. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Store in a cool, dry place. Over time, natural wood develops a beautiful patina with regular handling — this is a natural and desirable quality, not damage.
